Non-Profits

Most communities would be unable to survive without the existence of non-profits.  Non-profits more often then not will be the groups that will pull together local town oriented events and functions.  They are also the groups you turn to when you are in need of help.   Please do what you can to support the non-profits of your community.

- Annual Used book sale supporting scholarships for women locally and nationally. 2011 will be our 50th annual used book sale.  Held at GE Civic Center, May 11-14 2011
- Various book groups, film group, other meetings as per web page listing. 
The oldest continuous women's advocacy organization in the United States.  The mission of AAUW is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research.  Our efforts focus on educational equity and opportunity.  Our fundraising supports college scholarships.  Our local activities include book groups, a film group, and various other study groups and branch meetings.

CASA of DuPage County’s mission is to recruit, train and support volunteer citizen advocates to effectively speak to the best interests of abused, neglected and dependent children in DuPage County's juvenile court system. Court appointed special advocates enable a juvenile court judge to make well-informed decisions that will result in a neglected and abused child to be placed in a safe, permanent home as quickly as possible.

NAMI DuPage is part of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). The mission of NAMI DuPage is to provide support, advocacy and education in order to improve the quality of life of individuals with mental illness and their families. NAMI DuPage offers a helpline, support groups, education classes, outreach programs, and more. NAMI DuPage also hosts a benefit dinner each spring, and a run/walk each fall. Since the club’s chartering on March 18, 1959, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as: building the pavilion at Lions Park, Lions Campaign SightFirst II, providing general eye assistance (exams and glasses) and hearing assistance (exams and hearing aids) to those in need, and have assisted the Winfield Junior Women’s Club Annual Snacks with Santa program.
